DJ.MC, Walk Ya Down
DJ MC is back on the label with a new two-tracker of light and dark contrasts for the DJs. He released 'Relentless' with us in 2023 and has become a fixture on the Chicago footwork scene (promoting regular parties at the historic California Clipper Lounge) with output on Moveltrax and a barrage of self-released material.
‘Walk Ya Down’ is dark and grimy, riding on a 4/4 kick drum with a ravey, twisted and growling synth line, wrapped around a heavy sample from late Chicago rapper Bloodhound lil Jeff. ‘Ghetto Story2’ is a less moody affair and catchy as hell, with the kind of airy pads which are a lasting link from old Detroit techno to footwork, lifting up sugary, flipped and chopped vocal samples over rolling toms.
